William O. J. Graves
Bill joined Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP in 2016 as an Associate. His primary area of practice is with the Business and Banking practice group, where he deals with corporate issues, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, and company formation. He does collections work (creditor side) and civil litigation. He also practices municipal law with local towns, villages and school boards. While attending law school, Bill served as a Senior Research Associate at the New York State Science and Technology Law Center. In his role with the NYSSTLC, Bill performed research and drafted reports regarding market, regulatory, and intellectual property landscapes, and commercialization and business strategies. Bill also organized and supervised commercialization and market research reports for start-up and high-tech companies.
Bill is passionate about the economy and well-being of the Binghamton area, he strives to facilitate entrepreneurial and business development in the local community and has presented at events for entrepreneurs and small businesses hosted by the City of Binghamton Department of Economic Development. Bill has participated in entrepreneurial pre-seed workshop events held at Binghamton University and the Syracuse Tech Garden. Bill also volunteered to teach business and entrepreneurship to elementary students for the Junior Achievement Program. Bill is a member of the Broome County Bar Association and serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Continuing Legal Education Strategic Planning Committee.
