Three common car accidents

In 2018, there were more than 220,000 vehicle accidents in New York state. Most of these accidents weren’t fatal, but you could experience an accident at any time. Hopefully, you’ll never experience a bad car accident. But here are some common car accidents and how to better avoid them.

One vehicle

Single-vehicle accidents are usually caused by distracted driving or rough road condition. Your car could spin out of control when on ice or snow. Or you might reach for your cell phone or take your eyes off the road for a split second. It’s best to drive appropriately for the weather and road conditions. And stay focused when you’re behind the wheel.

Rear-end crashes

A rear-end crash can occur if someone suddenly stops in front of you. And if you don’t stop in time, a rear-end collision is almost guaranteed. The resulting injuries to you and your passengers could be catastrophic, if not fatal.

Intersection crashes

Many intersection crashes involve multiple vehicles. These are often difficult to avoid because they usually happen because of negligence. Even if you’re not at fault, another driver could involve you in a multi-vehicle crash. You can’t control what other drivers do behind the wheel. But being extra cautious at intersections can make everyone safer.

Being prepared for the future

A car accident can happen in a split second. And even if the accident isn’t fatal, serious injuries could occur. You have legal options for the recovery of compensation for your damages if the crash was caused by the negligence of another party.
