A car recently crashed into a New York cafe, causing injuries to the driver of the vehicle and three others. Residents of the Brooklyn area where this happened say it is surprising that there are not more car accidents at this intersection because drivers frequently speed through it with no regard for the traffic lights. They also say it could have been much worse because this is a favorite WiFi spot where people gather every morning.
Authorities say the incident occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. on a recent Thursday. A passenger car crashed through the glass front of the cafe, shattering the windows and leaving a massive hole in the shopfront. A spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department says two of the injured victims were patrons inside the cafe, and a third person was found where he or she had collapsed outside the store.
They were rushed to a hospital with serious injuries along with the driver, who suffered minor injuries. The accident investigation is ongoing, but a witness reported hearing the driver say that another vehicle struck his or her car, causing the loss of control. Investigators are looking at the possibility of a second vehicle being involved and leaving the scene of the accident.
Injured victims of car accidents that resulted from the negligence of others are usually entitled to pursue financial relief through the New York civil justice system. An experienced personal injury attorney can assist with the establishment of negligence, which is typically the basis of such lawsuits. Once the court has determined liability, it will adjudicate the documented claims of the plaintiff for recovery of financial and emotional damages.
