Car accidents: Single-car crash injures driver and 4 passengers

Speed and alcohol have been proved to be a perfect recipe for disaster. These two ingredients have caused numerous New York car accidents that resulted in serious — and often fatal — injuries. Officials believe this also to be what led to a recent crash in Queens.

Reportedly, this was a single-vehicle accident that occurred at about 2 a.m. on a recent Saturday. The accident report alleges the 26-year-old driver traveled at a high rate of speed when he lost control and smashed into three other vehicles before slamming into the pole of a traffic light. There were four passengers in the car.

The lives of all five occupants were saved by the quick response of New York cops who managed to extricate them before the wreck burst into flames. The four passengers, ages 17, 18, 19 and 20, were rushed to a hospital along with the driver — all with serious injuries. These were said to include fractured bones and body trauma, but all four passengers were reported to be stable.

Passengers who are injured in car accidents may not realize that they can pursue financial relief by filing personal injury lawsuits against the drivers — regardless of their relationships with him or her. They will have to prove negligence before the court will adjudicate documented claims for damages. Negligence is the basis for any personal injury claim, and an experienced personal injury attorney might be the best equipped to establish that. He or she can even launch an independent investigation to obtain the necessary evidence to present a successful claim in a New York civil court.
