New York, like many other states, is comprised of various highway systems that are often laden with traffic, especially in early morning hours as thousands of people try to get to work on time. Car accidents often occur, especially at crossroads and other road areas often considered dangerous. Sometimes, however, accidents also occur in more unlikely locations, such as a recent crash that happened along the West Hempstead branch of the LIRR train route.
It was just after 7 a.m. when a train and car collided. As is often the case in such situations, the exact cause of the crash was not immediately apparent. As soon as possible after the accident, train passengers began to be evacuated. The process was still ongoing more than an hour later.
Thankfully, no one on the train was injured. A 44-year-old man who had been driving the car at the time was transported to a nearby hospital. No updates have been provided regarding his condition. Train service in the area was suspended following the incident.
The entire situation remains under investigation at this time. The aftermaths of New York car accidents are often traumatic for those involved. Many accident victims suffer flashbacks and other emotional symptoms that can be difficult to bear. Others may face physical challenges in recovery, while still more are met financial strain when medical bills start rolling in and/or time off work is needed to recuperate. A personal injury attorney can be a great source of support under such circumstances, especially if someone wishes to discuss the possibility of filing an injury claim in court.
