One of several car accidents in New York ends in disaster

On Behalf of | Dec 5, 2016 | Car Accidents

It’s no secret that New York highways are busy thoroughfares often cluttered with fast-moving traffic. Chances of car accidents occurring obviously increase the more cars there are on the highway. A recent series of collisions had disastrous results for several of those involved.

Several of the recent incidents involved single car collisions. One of those crashes occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday. The driver of the vehicle was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed when he attempted to round the bend of an exit ramp leading off the highway.

Law authorities say the driver suddenly lost control of his steering, and the vehicle careened across several lanes of traffic before going off the road. His vehicle apparently went up over a sidewalk and smashed into a nearby barrier. A 31-year-old passenger riding in the front seat of the car at the time was transported to a local hospital for emergency care. The injured victim’s condition was listed as critical.

Car accidents in New York that result in injuries to passengers caused by negligent or reckless drivers often lead to personal injury claims in civil courts. Medical care rendered at the scene, at a hospital or in the weeks following an accident is often quite expensive. It is not uncommon that those who survive their injuries may be completely unprepared to meet the expenses associated with a particular incident.  A successfully litigated claim, however, can provide compensation for damages that can be used to offset such costs.
