Woman files medical malpractice lawsuit regarding catheter

On Behalf of | Nov 30, 2016 | Medical Malpractice

Many patients in New York and throughout the nation have suffered injuries due to substandard medical care. Such situations often lead to medical malpractice lawsuits filed against one or more parties, depending on the circumstances. A woman in another state recently filed such a claim after suffering severe injury she claims was due to a medical error.

The woman says medical staff members failed to recognize they had improperly placed a catheter inside her body. Her claim states that due to these errors, she suffered vascular and internal injuries. The patient is also seeking damages for mental anguish and medical expenses.

This would certainly not be the first time medical professionals have failed to use equipment properly, resulting in injury to a patient. The woman involved in this particular case has requested a jury trial. She is seeking $50,000 plus court costs in damages.

A New York attorney would be able to provide several services to an injured patient who wishes to file a medical malpractice claim in court. For instance, an experienced attorney is often able to enlist assistance from those who can offer expert testimonies to help substantiate a claim. Verdicts in favor of injured medical patients often lead to protocol changes and new regulations that may prevent future injuries to others. Successful claims may also provide compensation that can help recovering victims meet the financial costs associated with their injuries. Anyone with questions or concerns regarding a particular incident may seek answers by contacting a personal injury lawyer in the area.
