An accident involving a single car recently led to one death and three injuries in New York. The accident happened on a Saturday morning. When injury- or death-causing car accidents take place because drivers are careless behind the wheel, this is grounds for a civil suit.
Police were called to the crash scene a little before 5 a.m. There, officials found a vehicle resting beside a tree. Police said the car had left the roadway and gone through a lawn, field and ditch.
One passenger in the vehicle is said to have flagged down a person passing through the area where the accident occurred. This person then reported the crash to officials. Three passengers in the car and the driver were all taken to the hospital, three by helicopter and one by ambulance. One of the individuals died due to injuries he or she sustained in the crash; meanwhile, one’s condition was considered to be critical, while the two others’ conditions were deemed stable. The street where the crash took place had to be shut down for about four hours following the crash.
If the driver who reportedly caused the car to crash was one of the injured individuals, he or she may face personal injury lawsuits filed by the two other injured parties as well as a wrongful death suit filed by the family of the person who died in the New York crash. Meanwhile, if the driver died, his or her state may face litigation, or the three injured accident victims may opt to sue any separate owner of the vehicle involved in the single-car wreck. A monetary award, based upon a showing of negligence, may help to cover medical costs, funeral expenses and other costs tied to these types of car accidents.
