Trusts & Estates and Real Estate Associate Attorney

Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP is seeking a full-time NYS admitted Associate Attorney with at least 1-5 years of experience in Trusts & Estates and Real Estate (residential) to share time in our Binghamton and Owego offices.

Trusts & Estates responsibilities:

  • Represent the firm’s client in estate planning process.
  • Draft various estate planning and trust documents.
  • Assist clients with trust funding and advise accordingly.
  • Understanding of Surrogate’s Court process and procedure.
  • Manage trust and probate administration case matter and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and research skills.
  • Provides sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Handling of guardianship matters (Article 81, Article 17 and Article 17-A)
  • Advise clients regarding Medicaid planning matters
  • Assist with Medicaid applications

Real Estate responsibilities:

  • Represent the firm’s client in real estate matters for estate planning purpose.
  • Represent the firm’s client in real estate sales from trusts and/or estates.
  • Review real estate documentation and advise clients accordingly.
  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for real estate transactions.
  • Draft various real estate documents during the transaction process.
  • Potential title insurance underwriting, curative and claims.
  • Analytical and research skills.
  • Provides sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
