The New York State Police is investigating a recent crash that occurred in Genesee County. Negligent driving is one of the most frequent causes of car accidents. According to a preliminary report, a witness called 911 shortly after 6:15 p.m. to report a collision at an intersection on State Route 33.
Deputies responded to the scene to find two wrecked cars in a residence’s front yard. Reportedly, a woman and three passengers were southbound when she disregarded a stop sign at an intersection with Route 33. Her vehicle smashed into the passenger side of an SUV that was heading west on Route 33.
Deputies say the force of the impact caused both vehicles to roll several times. They reported that although none of the occupants in the car that ran the stoplight suffered serious injuries, the driver of the SUV that was struck did not survive the collision. Deputies say drugs or alcohol did not play a role in this accident, and although the driver was cited for failing to stop, no other charges have been filed.
When New York families lose loved ones in car accidents that occurred due to the negligence of other parties, they can pursue financial relief through the civil justice system of the state. Navigating a lawsuit at such a challenging time is never easy, and many people choose to seek the support and guidance of an experienced wrongful death attorney. A lawyer can establish negligence and advocate for the grieving family throughout ensuing legal proceedings in pursuit of recovering economic and noneconomic damages.
