The New York State Police reports that an investigation was launched after a recent fatal crash on the New York State Thruway. Such inquiries are typically made after fatal car accidents, even if there are no formal charges or citations filed. Sadly, regardless of the outcome of any investigation, every fatal accident leaves one or more families dealing with tremendous losses, and they typically have to cope with the financial consequences along with grief and anxiety.
The current investigation deals with an accident that involved a 26-year-old Verona man who reportedly experienced car trouble. Authorities say he pulled onto the shoulder of the road, activated the car’s hazard lights and proceeded to investigate or repair the problem. With him were three young male passengers.
While the man was working on the car, a 42-year-old box truck driver from another state veered from his lane for reasons yet to be determined. His truck left the roadway and smashed into the rear of the disabled car. The man who was working on the car died at the crash scene, and his passengers, ages 17, 18 and 19, were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The box truck driver also suffered only minor injuries, and he was taken to another medical facility
Whenever New York families lose loved ones in car accidents that were caused by the negligence of other parties, they may pursue financial relief. Navigating wrongful death lawsuits at such a challenging time could be daunting, but the support and guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney can ease the process. With the help of legal counsel, the surviving family may recover economic and noneconomic damages.
