Possible grounds for wrongful death claim after fatal accident

On Behalf of | Oct 3, 2016 | Wrongful Death

A tragic accident in Cicero left one person dead and another person in critical condition. The three-car accident occurred along Interstate 81 south when a teenage driver crossed over the median and entered a lane of oncoming traffic. Due to the circumstances of the accident, the family of the deceased may have grounds for a wrongful death claim.

After the car crossed over the median, it was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The car began to spin and was then struck by an AT&T van. The driver of the car was 16-years-old and was taken to a New York hospital for treatment of head injuries. The passenger in the car with the teen was killed in the accident, and the driver of the vehicle that first collided with the car suffered back injuries in the collision.

The accident is still under investigation, but there are many factors that could have contributed to the fatal collision. From texting and driving to speeding, human error or negligence may have played a role in the crash that claimed the life of an innocent motorist. A complete investigation into the incident will determine if there are grounds for a civil claim as well as identify liable parties.

After the loss of a loved one, no amount of compensation can undo the damage that has been done and reverse the suffering of the family. However, a wrongful death claim can secure much needed compensation for a New York family to cover funeral expenses and other accident-related costs. By seeking a complete case evaluation, a grieving family can better understand what legal options are available.
