Car accidents involving pedestrians might lead to injuries

One person in New York was recently injured in a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. The accident happened in a store parking lot. When people are injured in car accidents, they have the right to seek justice via the state's civil court system.

The accident happened when a woman, 88, was driving and trying to park in a spot in the parking lot of a stationery store. Police said the woman then accelerated rather than stopping. This caused her to crash her car into the stationery store.

One man was struck as a result of the collision. He suffered a broken ankle and was transported to the hospital. One witness at the store said the crash sounded like an explosion. No arrest was made following the accident, and no charges were filed in connection with it.

When a person in New York suffers injuries in a motor vehicle accident as a result of another driver's negligence, the injured party has the right to file a personal injury claim against the reportedly at-fault driver, pursing the reimbursement of damages. A monetary award may help the injured individual to pay for health care costs associated with these types of car accidents. Financial restitution may additionally help to cover the loss of wages if the victim's injuries prevented him or her from being able to return to his or her job for a period. In addition, monetary damages might help to address pain and suffering and emotional distress caused by the potentially life-altering crash.
