One vehicle accident in New York recently led to the death of a pedestrian. In addition, three other people suffered injuries. These types of car accidents may happen because a driver failed to pay attention to the road, in which case this driver may be held financially responsible for deaths and injuries that occur as a result.
The recent vehicle accident occurred on a recent Monday. Police said it happened at about 5:30 p.m. when a compact car was going south on a road. The vehicle suddenly jumped a curb and turned over. The vehicle ended up striking a pedestrian in front of a building.
The pedestrian, 50, suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital, but he died while on the way there. One woman, 59, who was injured in the crash also suffered injuries after being hit by accident-related debris and was transported to a medical center. Officials said she was in stable condition. The person driving the car, 58, was taken to a medical center to be evaluated, and so was his son, 3. Police continued to investigate why the driver lost control of the vehicle.
If the driver is found to have caused the New York accident due to careless driving, he may face a wrongful death claim filed by the loved ones of the man who died in the crash. The injured woman may also choose to file a personal injury claim, seeking monetary damages. A monetary award, based upon a showing of negligence, may help the plaintiffs cover costs associated with these types of tragic car accidents, such as medical bills or burial costs.
