One person lost his life and multiple others were injured in a recent vehicle accident in New York. These types of car accidents can easily occur if one driver is being careless behind the wheel. The accident happened on a Monday and involved three cars.
Police said a 55-year-old man was driving one vehicle north on a road. He suddenly breached the road’s middle line and entered oncoming traffic. That is when he reportedly struck another vehicle that a 51-year-old woman was driving. The man’s vehicle then struck a second automobile driven by another 55-year-old man.
The driver who allegedly hit the two vehicles passed away at the crash scene. The driver of the second vehicle that was struck suffered injuries deemed not to be life-threatening and so did his passenger, who was 16. The woman who was driving the first automobile that was hit suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. Her passenger, also 16, was taken to a medical center too. Authorities continue to investigate what caused the crash.
The crash victims who suffered injuries may opt to file personal injury claims in this case. They have the right to seek monetary damages, which — if awarded — might be useful for covering their hospital bills and other accident-related losses, which can stem from these types of car accidents. Although the person believed to have caused the New York crash by hitting the two vehicles has died, his estate may become the subject of litigation, and any separate owner of the vehicle he was driving might also be sued. In order for the plaintiffs to prevail in court, liability has to be established to the court’s satisfaction.
