Several women recently died following a tragic vehicle accident in New York. Car accidents can easily take place if one driver fails to follow the rules of the road. In the recent accident situation, one man currently faces charges of driving while intoxicated in connection with the accident.
The reported DWI accident took place on a recent Sunday a little after 5 p.m. According to police, eight women were riding in a limousine, on their way from a winery, where they were having a bachelorette party. The limousine tried to make a U-turn in an effort to go west. At that point, a red pickup truck that was traveling west ended up T-boning the limousine at an intersection along Route 48.
Four of the women suffered fatal injuries after the collision. Three of them were trapped in the vehicle and died at the accident scene, while the fourth one died after being taken to a medical center; these victims were 23 and 24 years old. Meanwhile, four others were transported to area medical centers. The pickup driver as well as the limo driver were also injured, but their injuries were non-life-threatening. The man believed to have been driving while intoxicated pleaded not guilty to DWI charges, and he was held on a bond of a million dollars or on a cash bail of $500,000.
The family of the deceased women have the right to file wrongful death claims against the alleged intoxicated driver. Meanwhile, the injured victims may file personal injury claims against him, pursuing the reimbursement of damages that usually result from these types of car accidents. If the charged driver ends up being convicted of his DWI charges, proof of the conviction may be furnished in civil court in an effort to establish his liability in the New York accident.
