Experienced (Commercial Real Estate) and/or (Business & Banking) Paralegal

We are seeking an experienced, full-time paralegal with 2-5+ years' experience in Business, Corporate, and Commercial Real Estate transactions. The paralegal works closely with the Managing Partner, attorneys, and other paralegals on all aspects of the closing transactions and is responsible for the review, organization, and preparation of all documentation necessary to complete the transaction. This position may work out of our Binghamton and/or Ithaca office.

General responsibilities include:

  • Handle commercial real estate transactions on behalf of banking institutions from Commitment Letter issuance through closing;
  • Request, review, coordinate and organize, documentation received from Borrower's Counsel relative to the Commercial Real Estate transaction;
  • Prepare and draft all necessary closing documents in conformance with the Commitment Letter;
  • Coordinate with banking institutions to confirm that all closing requirements have been met, schedule the closing and attendance at closing as needed;
  • Interface in a professional manner with clients, banking institutions, attorneys, third parties, etc. as needed, to address issues which may arise and coordinate the closing process;
  • Coordinate integrated work processes conforming to a tight timeline, to ensure accurate documentation is obtained and prepared for transaction closing;
  • Prepare, maintain, and track all post-closing matters and prepare closing packages for all parties.

Qualifications for the position: High school education or equivalent required. Paralegal Certificate preferred. Experience and understanding of law office policies and procedures is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as good organization/multi-tasking skills. Ability to research problems and make sound, timely decisions. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations; maintain records and time-sensitive documents. Interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff. Personal computer and software familiarity including Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
